Wellston Football 2026 - We’re Back Baby!

After years of passion, anticipation, prayer, and hard work, we’re excited to officially announce that football is returning to Middle School for Wellston in 2026.

What started as a vision is now becoming a reality, and the momentum behind it is something our entire community can be proud of. This moment didn’t happen overnight. Nearly six years ago, a group of committed individuals came together with one goal in mind—to bring football back to Wellston from the ground up. That vision gave birth to the Wellston Little League football program, which has steadily grown year after year. Through countless hours of volunteer coaching, parent involvement, and community support, the foundation was laid brick by brick.

Along the way, the story has caught attention beyond our town. News outlets have covered what’s happening here, not just because football is returning, but because of how it’s returning—through a community that refused to let something meaningful disappear. What we’re seeing is more than a sport being revived; it’s a culture being rebuilt.

From young athletes learning the game for the first time, to dedicated coaches pouring into players on and off the field, to cheerleaders bringing energy and pride to every game—this has been a full community effort. Parents have sacrificed time, leaders have stepped up, and volunteers have given more hours than can be counted. This program has always been about more than football—it’s about developing young men and women, building character, and creating something that brings people together.

And now, we’re starting to see the results of that investment. Coming off two undefeated Little League seasons at the 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade levels, there is real excitement building—and a winning culture already taking root. These young athletes aren’t just learning how to play the game; they’re learning how to compete, how to lead, and how to win the right way. The future of Wellston football is not just coming back—it’s coming back strong.

That foundation is now translating into the next level. We’ve already secured nearly 80% of our 2026 schedule, with both home and away games lined up. Friday night lights are coming back to Wellston, and the season is beginning to take shape in a real, tangible way.

At the same time, we’re continuing to build the program the right way. New equipment and uniforms are already on order, ensuring our athletes will take the field prepared, confident, and representing Wellston with pride. This is about doing things with excellence from day one.

None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity and belief of our community. Our booster club has played a huge role, alongside donors, sponsors, and individuals who have stepped up to make this happen. Their investment isn’t just financial—it’s a belief in the future of our kids and our town.

This moment is bigger than football. It’s about restoring something that matters. It’s about giving our students opportunities, building pride in our community, and creating a place where families can come together again on Friday nights.

Wellston didn’t just bring football back—we built it back. And this is only the beginning.
